To the Gillis/Sanchez Family:  First of all we would like to thank you for the beautiful card Darrell's memorial card and the pictures.  We will treasure them.  We were telling you about the accident that happened where our children (Michael & Autumn) had their accident.  Well we got rid of the tree finally which we are glad about because of the bad memories.  We are just so sorry that another life had to be taken because of it.  We are going to put the memorial back up but there is some work that we have to do to the crosses.  Looks different down there.  We just can't forget.  Everyone says time will heal we are not sure it ever will.  We had a great time with your family it was like we had known them for more than just that weekend.  We felt so much at ease around them and we are happy that we were able to talk about our children and share stories.  We are looking forward to seeing each one of them again next summer.

Hey Darrell, our baby girl has graduated the 8th grade.  She looked so beautiful.  She thought she was failing French and actually got a C, yay.  She is so good.  She is so caring and beautiful inside and out.  One of her classmates (a boy) bought and wrapped her a book with a red rose.  Awwww.  Steve and I quizzed him of course and he wants to be a doctor. :)  I don't think they have that kind of relationship (according to Katie anyway) but you never know.  Next year is high school for her.  I'm worried and scared and excited and happy all at the same time.  I trust that she is good and sweet but I know how HS can influence a person.  I only pray that these years she gets the right influences.  Before we know it she will be driving and we'll never see her.  I dread it.  But for the moment I'm happy that she has made huge leaps and made a great accomplishment and like you has made many friends along the way that will be there with her for a life time.  Take care,  Jen

Losing so much  / Debbie Kuhn (Brother in Heaven )
I saw Darrel's memorial in the paper today and came to visit his site. I read all Darrell's mom's memorials to try and understand how to get my sister back. She lost her precious daughter, my neice, Sara. I was looking for answers to help my sister come back to us. I call it the walking dead. Souls that are in so much pain that they can only survive minute by minute. I looked for answers and found none.True sorrow and sadness can only be overcome by a fervent desire to want to help the people around you to live, to show them the life your loved ones would have wanted you to show them had it been another one of their siblings that had gone to be with Jesus. It is like running slow motion in a dream and never waking up but then you are falling in your dream, you hit bottom, you wake up and realize you are alive and amongst the living with Darrell and Sara really living inside of you and God in the lead. And you find yourself so happy because they really do come back, alive and well and you are giving because of them. What would they have done with their lives and the answ ersin the Moms

Their children and families wait but I must say the truth here their husbands wait most of all and cry because they have lost their soulmate.I speak from my own sisters words which hurt me very much when she told me I was letting my husband come 2nd and he loves me so much. I too have suffered loss. Years went by before one day I looked at the people I had left behind to go on to be with my children and try to save them I couldn't believe how gray he had gotten. God taught me that day that I Heaven all is made right and beautiful. Darrell and Sara have crowns and walk on streets of gold. Before we know it we will join them but for this moment I want people here to know that I love them as much as I love my children, my sister and anything else that may steer me off course from those who truly love me. How is Heaven? I know dumb question. I have been thinking about you. I miss everyone. Mom is going to have to download "Chicken Fried" by Zac Brown Band because it makes me think of all of us. Just Checking In On My Daddy.  / Katie Gillis

Hey daddy. I was home sick today with the flu so I thought I should pay you a visit. I was thinking about all the little memories that I have of you. Every little story I have to pass on to Jared. (I thank you SOOO very much for him you know). Every day that passes I know Im getting closer to seeing you. To make more memories and to be with my daddy. Im not scared of growning old because I know Im getting closer to seeing you every passing day. Mom is freeking out about every little grey hair (litterly) but shes beautiful. I hope I can grow to look like her and grandma. Grandma still looks like she could pass for being in her 20's or 30's. I have a boyfriend, his name is Alex. Guess what??? He has purple hair. Thats something we both have in common, we love the color purple. Hes really sweet though so you dont have to worry. I wish i could still call you and tell you how i got on the honor roll twice now in a row. This time though I got higher grades. Im SOO supprised that Im getting an A in english, Im not that good at spelling. My last report card I had all A's and two C's. That supprised me to. Most of my classes say "pleasure to have in class". And all say "talks too much". Goes to show i havent changed that much. ^.^ Im just a bit worried about uncel D. He seems a little out of it. Like he has too much on his mind. I think he feels like he has to live up to you, you know? But he dosent. we all still love him as him and that wont change. Well I'll be back to check in on you from time to time and tell you how Ive been. Be sure to drop off in one of my dreams. I really do miss that face of yours. I LOVE YOU!!! <3

St. Patty's day wish  / Jennie
Hey Darrell, my St. Patty's day wish to you was that you shine bright in the eternal light.  Big smiles to you.  Katie is getting big and she has a serious boyfriend.  He has purple hair (yikes). She went with him and his parents to his grandparents 50th wedding anniversary and he came to the door to pick her up and his hair matched his shirt.  She says all the girls at school want to be his girl but she is the one that he loves.  Yeah she says she loves him :)  It's hard to let her grow up and trust her and keep her little all at the same time so I sure hope you are watching over her for us all.  I brought her to her orientation for volunteen at the hospital now she just has to get a few things done for the requirements and pass her interview.  She's getting involved with a play at school and she's doing the March of Dimes.  I hope it isn't too much for her and if it isn't I hope she really commits to it all and does well.  I told her this is just her first year of the volunteering so it will only get easier if she gets through.  She reminds me in many ways of you.  Shes had talks with me that I hope you've heard.  She's a great kid.  I love her sooooo much.  Take care Darrell.  Love your family.  Kiss your boy for me. :)  Close
